How to Get Around in Cappadocia

Getting around Cappadocia, Turkey, will likely require you to rent a car. This is the primary way for tourists to get around, and it is easy enough to rent one even after you arrive. Often, the place you are staying will help you arrange this, but there are also many companies around Goreme, the main strip, that will help you as well. You can also set this up ahead of time if you prefer.

Another transportation option is renting a scooter if the weather is agreeable. Lastly, as the least expensive option but the least advised way to get around Cappadocia, you can use public transportation, known locally as the dolmus. Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time when using this mode of transportation, as it is a bit slow.

Do US Citizens Need a Visa to Visit Turkey

As of January 2024, US citizens visiting Turkey no longer are required to obtain a visa as long as the visit will be less than 90 days in any 180-days period.
