  • The Last Black Man in San Francisco - This one is sure to win several awards. Introducing Joe Talbot’s directorial debut of a movie that stars a young and upcoming actor, Jimmie Fails. Based on a true story, the film follows a hopeful young man who is looking to reclaim and refurbish an old San Francisco home. As the home’s surroundings become gentrified and made nearly unrecognizable, the young man works on the home with a vision of keeping some of the neighbourhood’s roots alive.
  • One Child Nation - With a 98% on rotten tomatoes this documentary is already certified “fresh”. One Child Nation follows the path of award-winning documentarian’s Nanfu Wang as she documents the aftermath of China’s strictly enforced “one child per couple” law.
  • Abominable - A little less serious of a movie than the others mentioned above, Abominable is an animated film that’s sure to be up for many motion picture movie awards this year. Starring the voices of Eddie Izzard and Sarah Paulson, this adventure follows a teenage girl and a Yeti as they explore the Himalayas in the hopes of reuniting the creature with his family.
